Sustainability and digitalization in a context of urban transformation were the main themes at the most recent Breakfast Conference, organized by Vida Imobiliária in conjunction with Schneider Electric in Lisbon on December 4.
Concern for sustainability from the design stage and the incorporation of intelligent home automation for better building management are part of the mission to create greener real estate. The sector is “on the right track”, but it’s still in its infancy and there’s a lot to be done, especially when it comes to raising awareness of the issue.
Nuno Marques, Head of Technical and Urban Advisory Services at Engexpor, has no doubt that sustainability must be incorporated into the building through passive solutions, in other words, constructive solutions, but he believes that “there is still a certain distance between designers and these issues, not least because they are always ‘fighting’ against deadlines. There needs to be an integrated vision between all the stakeholders”. However, he believes that “we are taking the first steps, and they are solid”.
