Opened in 1996, Arrábida Shopping underwent extensive renovation works in 2006 – four years after being acquired by Sonae Sierra. The works carried primarily involved the restyling and expansion of the existing building, in order to create a new leisure and restaurant area.
Responsible for construction management, Engexpor oversaw all renovation, modernisation and expansion works, which allowed the centre to offer a food court with 30 restaurants and 1130 seats. A leisure area was also built, boasting a bowling alley and a terrace overlooking the River Douro and the city of Porto.
Located near the Arrábida Bridge, on a high spot in the city of Vila Nova de Gaia, the Arrábida Shopping building is a well-known urban landmark, owing to its privileged location and imposing design, as well as a widely popular shopping, cultural and leisure centre in the north of Portugal.
A total of 189 diversified, prestigious shops, 20 cinema rooms, a large food court and a large variety of leisurely events have turned this modern shopping centre into a preferred shopping and leisure destination.
