The Altino Arantes library in the center of Ribeirão Preto will be rehabilitated and expanded to become a cultural center.
The space will include cafeteria, amphitheater, kids space, among other facilities.
Built in 1932 to be the home of the couple Colonel Quito Junqueira and Sinhá Junqueira, this building was left in a will on the condition that it would become a public library.
The Library, which currently has a collection of approximately 50,000 titles, of which 2,000 books are written in Braille, will be closed during rehabilitation work and is expected to reopen by November 2019.
