The Sines DC project is one of Europe’s largest hyperscale data centers, which in its final stage will have 1.2 GW of installed capacity. This mega data center stands out for its strategic conditions: it will be entirely powered by renewable energies and will use an innovative cooling system using ocean waters, with the aim of achieving a carbon-neutral footprint.
The project’s first building, known as SIN01, is being developed on a 89,955 m² site. This building has a constructed area of around 21,600 m² on just one floor, offering a capacity of 14 MW and housing multiple functional zones, including IT, electrical, mechanical and support areas. In addition, the project includes the construction of a 60 kV substation and two high-voltage overhead power lines, with a total length of 10.2 km, intended to feed the Start Campus Substation and also a connection to the Atlantic Ocean.
Engexpor was entrusted with the construction management of this innovative landmark, reinforcing its commitment to efficiency and sustainability at every stage of the project.
Located in the Sines Industrial and Logistics Zone (ZILS), next to the Thermoelectric Power Plant, Sines DC will have a total of six buildings in its final configuration, consolidating itself as a strategic point for data center operations in Portugal and Europe. The privileged geographical location, with direct access to the high-voltage power grid and global connectivity via high-capacity fiber optic cables, connects the project to markets in North America, Africa and South America.
Sines DC not only positions Portugal at the center of the global digital transformation, but also redefines the standards of innovation, technology and sustainability in the data center sector.
