Sines 4.0 is one of the largest data centers in Europe and will be 100% green

The Sines 4.0 project is a hyperscale data center with a total capacity of up to 495MW, which benefits from a set of strategic conditions that allow it to be powered by renewable energy and use an ocean water cooling system, to achieve a neutral footprint in carbon.

It will be one of the largest data center campuses in Europe, with NEST-New & Emerging Sustainable Technologies being the first building to be developed. Located on a plot of land measuring 89,955 m², it will have a construction area of approximately 21,600 m² on just one floor, a capacity of 15MW, and several functional areas, such as IT, electrical, mechanical and support spaces. The work was entrusted to Engexpor.

The contract includes the construction of a 60 KV substation and two 60 kV high voltage overhead electrical lines to supply the Start Campus Substation, with a total length of 10.2 km. The high-voltage lines, after their construction, will be integrated into the national electricity grid.

Developed by Start Campus, Sines 4.0 will have a total of 9 buildings in the Sines Industrial and Logistics Zone (ZILS), next to the Thermoelectric Power Station. For the operation of this mega data center, its strategic geographic position will be enhanced, which is a gateway to Europe and the world, enabling not only the use of natural resources and green energy sources but also access to the electricity grid. high voltage and global connectivity through connection to high-capacity international fiber optic cables with North America, Africa, and South America.
